Innovation in Energy Award

Award for the strongest overall demonstration of innovation in the New Zealand energy sector.

This category is open to New Zealand energy sector organisations such as retailers, generators, network companies, pipeline owners, oil/gas explorers and producers and is being assessed for initiatives undertaken over the last two years (started, completed or ongoing).  

COMMUNITY INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR

Award for an outstanding initiative that has demonstrated wide-reaching benefits to both the organisation and community involved.

This category is open to New Zealand energy sector organisations such as retailers, generators, network companies, pipeline owners, oil/gas explorers and producers and is being assessed for initiatives undertaken over the last two years (started, completed or ongoing).  

YOUNG ENERGY PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

Award for the standout professional aged under 40 in the New Zealand energy sector defined by their achievements during their career to date. 

This category is open to individuals working for New Zealand energy sector organisations such as retailers, generators, network companies, pipeline owners, oil/gas explorers and producers.

LARGE ENERGY USER INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR

Award for outstanding energy-related initiatives that have delivered significant benefits, carried out by large energy users.

This category is open to New Zealand’s large energy users (e.g. industrial and corporate organisations that use large volumes of energy (electricity, gas, coal, transport fuel etc) at a single site or across multiple sites. The award is assessed for initiatives undertaken over the last two years (started, completed or ongoing).

Network Company Initiative of the Year Award

This award celebrates excellence in a network business where an initiative delivers outstanding results. This could be a success story about anything whether it is innovative asset management, engineering, IT system development, project management, new energy initiative or customer focus.  

This category is open to network companies operating in the New Zealand energy sector such as electricity distributors, transmission businesses, fuel pipeline owners and is being assessed for initiatives undertaken over the last two years (started, completed or ongoing).

Editor's Award

The editor’s award for outstanding contribution to the sector will recognise an individual who has made a significant and long-term contribution to the New Zealand energy sector over a period of time.

We do not accept nominations for this category, nor do we announce finalists, rather the recipient is chosen by the editor of Energy News and revealed on the night.

Energy Technology of the Year

This award is celebrating New Zealand businesses that have achieved commercial success from energy-focused advanced technology, research or development projects.

This catergory is open to New Zealand registered businesses developing products, services, or solutions relevant to the energy sector (including hardware, software, products and systems utilised throughout the value chain) and is being assessed for initiatives undertaken over the last two years (started, completed or ongoing).  

Well-being Award

Celebrates energy sector excellence in caring for our people.  We rely on many brilliant teams and individuals to keep the fuel flowing and the lights on.  Tell us about what you do for your people, whether it is a diversity initiative, training course, professional development system or mental health care regime.

This category is open to organisations operating in the New Zealand energy sector such as retailers, generators, network companies, pipeline owners, oil/gas explorers and producers and is being assessed for initiatives undertaken over the last two years (started, completed or ongoing).  

Low Carbon Future Award

This award celebrates emissions reduction initiatives undertaken by the New Zealand energy sector. We want to hear about initiatives large and small that contribute to reducing or avoiding emissions of carbon dioxide and/or other greenhouse gases.

This category is open to New Zealand energy sector organisations such as energy retailers, electricity generators, network companies, pipeline owners, petroleum explorers, energy distributors and energy producers and is being assessed for initiatives undertaken over the last two years (started, completed or ongoing).

CONSUMER NZ ENERGY RETAILER OF THE YEAR

Award for the energy (electricity and/or gas) retailer with the strongest overall performance in New Zealand for the year. In association with Consumer NZ.

The award is assessed by Consumer NZ members through the results of the 2018 Consumer NZ energy providers' survey and a judging panel comprising Consumer NZ and Energy News representatives.
