Westpower’s Transformer and Air-Break Switch Refurbishment Programme delivers real-world emission reductions by extending asset life, reducing landfill, and cutting embodied carbon. Refurbishing over 100 transformers and 25 switches annually saves close to 100 tonnes of CO₂e each year — the equivalent of planting 4,600 trees. This innovative in-house initiative not only reduces environmental impact but also achieves major financial savings, with refurbished equipment costing in most cases less than a third of new replacements. As the only EDB refurbishing both transformers and air-break switches, Westpower is leading the way in circular economy practices — proving that smart stewardship and sustainability can go hand-in-hand.
