This is the story of how a significant greenfield opportunity, paired with an overarching principle of “safety always”, could show the way to lift the health and safety performance of an industry.
But being the first mover comes with risk. Building from scratch means higher expectations of getting it right from day one, and new regulations had come into force that were designed to lift New Zealand’s game when it came to health and safety. All eyes were on OnGas to deliver a plant that lived up to the intent of the new regulations.
