Our eyes in the sky – Transpower and Broadspectrum pioneering drone technology
Transpower New Zealand has harnessed the benefits of drone technology to advance the management of our assets around the country, improve public safety, and ensure efficient inspections of the national grid. It was the first organisation in New Zealand to conduct ‘beyond line of sight’ flights using drones, proving the technology and providing research and development applications that have benefited the whole industry and other sectors. Transpower has provided the industry with a best practice model for drone aerial assessments and will continue to refine its use of drone technology and develop and trial further drone assessments that have applications for the whole industry.
