MainPower – Breaking from tradition

Flexible working hours – improving work life balance

With lines companies historically being very ‘traditional’ organisations, flexible working options in this industry have often been deemed too much of a stretch. MainPower wanted to challenge this norm.

MainPower decided to implement a trial to assess the impact a new working pattern would have on employee engagement, well-being and overall operations.

Two trials were conducted throughout 2018 and 2019, testing two working patterns: a four-day work week and a nine-day fortnight.

Feedback from employees was overwhelmingly positive, with trial participants reporting personal benefits to their well-being, improved productivity at work and an overall positive impact on the wider organisation.
