Social Procurement Award

Award for an outstanding example of social procurement, that has delivered enduring positive benefits to communities, employees and the environment.

Social procurement is about intentionally using procurement as a tool to deliver positive social and environmental outcomes alongside acquiring the goods, services and works required. A user-friendly guide to social procurement for both purchaser and supplier is available here.

Open to: New Zealand energy sector organisations such as retailers, generators, network companies, pipeline owners, oil/gas explorers and producers
Third party nominations: Yes, with consent from the party being nominated
Time period assessed: Initiatives undertaken over the last two-three years (started, completed or ongoing) 

 

Examples

  • Directly engaging with social benefit suppliers, like social enterprises or Māori, Pasifika or community owned enterprises
  • Work with existing suppliers to deliver social and/or sustainable outcomes
