McCain Foods – Mechanical vapour recompression - fryer heat recovery

McCain’s fryer heat recovery system at its Timaru plant captures energy from the frying process and uses it to heat other upstream processes. The vapofan/mechanical vapour recompression system is the first of its kind in New Zealand for its specific type of heat recovery application, and likely a global first. Already exceeding its design parameters, energy savings are estimated at 39,943 gigajoules/year, with water consumption cut by 17,600 cubic metres/year.
