Fonterra – Electricity energy optimisation project NZDC

Fonterra embarked on an energy saving project in August 2020 to reduce electricity consumption in its storage facilities. Cool stores managed by New Zealand Distribution Centres were chosen as a focus due to their higher electricity usage. By its completion in December 2021, the NZDC Electrical Energy Optimisation project had achieved annual energy savings of 10.75 per cent or 3.8 million kilowatt-hours annually, and had cut carbon emissions by 456 tonnes.
