First fully electric bus
Tranzit Group, award-winning and family owned, was founded in 1924 and is a fourth-generation transport and tourism company.
In partnership with AUT and EECA we launched EV1 - New Zealand’s first fully battery powered bus into commercial operation in early 2018. EV1 replaces its diesel equivalent. Our AUT shuttles travel close to half a million km’s annually servicing the universities three campuses. Our findings will be shared with the transport industry in the hope that the uptake of electric buses in NZ is seen as a viable replacement to the current 9,500 diesel buses operating on our roads.
