Transpower believes the Intelligent Conductor Management Programme it developed is a world first. It combines high-quality photographic data gathered by drone at all points along a conductor with lab and field observations on failure risk of different defects to predict the probability of failure.
Transpower says ICON has enabled it to defer 120 circuit kms of reconductoring during the current regulatory period, with a saving of $70 million.
