Daniel's assessment of reserves in the Kupe and Tui fields resulted in transactions that fundamentally changed asset management and M&A activity at New Zealand Oil & Gas, where he acts as the engineering authority across all operated and non-operated assets. In 2017 his work project managing an economic impact study of the Barque prospect off the South Island was a complex, multi-stakeholder undertaking that demonstrated the prospect's commercial potential and attracted national media attention. He achieved chartered professional engineering status with Engineering New Zealand and participates actively in the Royal Society of New Zealand, the SPE & the AIPN.
