Quay Connect Logistics Model

Port Nelson’s QuayConnect warehousing and distribution model has revolutionised road freight across the Top of the South. Since February 2016, its 24/5 operation running HPMVs at full capacity from its purpose-built storage facilities at Port Nelson to the customer and back, has dramatically saved fuel and carbon emissions, compared to the traditional model. Truck journeys have more than halved with 10,003 fewer hours on the road (over 381 days) between Nelson and Marlborough. Post the Kaikoura earthquake, with the QuayConnect supply chain still intact, the service scaled up and helped Marlborough winemakers’ wine reach their domestic and international markets.
