Electricity operating standards

Vector demonstrated its absolute commitment to worker safety when it completely reengineered a core system of work even though it had been standard practice within the industry for years.

When reviewing health and safety requirements, the Vector board rejected standard industry practice of crew maintaining and repairing a live network.

To support the decision to de-energise, key Vector personnel reviewed safe systems of work, developed new risk assessment tools, collaborated with Field Service Providers and updated Operating Standards.

Today, Vector line mechanics start every job knowing that, apart from a few exceptions, the power will be switched off while they're working.
